The leader is expected to evaluate solution proposals, oversee vendor-managed services, govern large-scale delivery programs, and dive deeply into design and code-level issues when required. Enterprise Strategy and Innovation
- Define and evolve the enterprise platform strategy in alignment with Pfizer s long-term business priorities and digital transformation agenda.
- Embed continuous improvement and innovation into daily operations across C4, making them core to how engineering delivers.
- Lead the design of solutions for complex, multi-faceted problems that carry long-term impact across the enterprise.
- Anticipate and address emerging challenges such as AI governance, platform sustainability, and developer experience, ensuring resilience and adaptability.
- Demonstrate deep commercial business knowledge and a strong grasp of external market trends to anticipate the needs of C4 and Pfizer s global business units.
Technology Leadership
- Oversee the architecture, design, and delivery of Pfizer s global commercial platforms, including Adobe suite of Platforms (Experience Manager, Workfront, Express, Firefly), Web and Mobile Platform ecosystem and supporting capabilities, Python and AWS based automation capabilities, Salesforce Marketing CRM, CDP, and Identify Platforms.
- Make enterprise-level decisions on platform selection, vendor partnerships, technical designs, and implementation roadmaps.
- Champion privacy-first and security-first engineering practices across all platforms, ensuring compliance and trust at scale.
- Lead FinOps strategies to optimize cloud spend, improve efficiency, and ensure cost transparency.
- Serve as a recognized technical and functional authority in commercial architecture, development disciplines, and the core technology platforms central to Pfizer s digital ecosystem.
Organizational Influence
- Serve as a strategic advisor on enterprise-wide initiatives that impact operational and functional excellence.
- Influence Pfizer s senior leadership and external stakeholders through thought leadership and recognized technical expertise.
- Represent C4 in enterprise governance forums, cross-functional steering committees, and industry engagements.
People and Culture
- Define the people, technology, and financial resourcing strategy for the Platform Engineering team while contributing to broader C4 workforce planning.
- Lead a diverse, global team of leaders and engineers, fostering a culture of agility, inclusion, accountability, and excellence.
- Build talent pipelines through succession planning, leadership development, and technical training programs that strengthen enterprise capability.
- Act on Developer Experience (DX) survey results and engineer feedback to continuously improve the ease of delivery and quality of work life.
- Encourage appropriate risk-taking to drive innovation, balancing stability with the need for ongoing change, simplification, and improvement.
Delivery and Operations
- Ensure delivery of high-quality platforms and services from inception through global deployment.
- Oversee large-scale delivery programs, platform operations, and vendor partnerships with measurable business and technical outcomes.
- Optimize delivery economics through disciplined estimation, contract negotiation, and operational efficiency.
Incident Management and Resilience
- Lead responses to critical security incidents and operational outages, ensuring rapid containment, mitigation, and recovery.
- Direct technical troubleshooting and guide teams through root-cause analysis and long-term remediation.
- Drive resilience engineering practices and implement post-mortem reviews to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure all solutions are designed with privacy and security by design principles from the outset.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering or Technology Management preferred, coupled relevant technical experience with emphasis on software development and maintenance.
Minimum of 15 years of experience as an information technology professional with increasing responsibility designing, delivering, and maintaining large-scale, global systems in one or many roles related to platform engineering, architecture, and emerging technologies
Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills. Strong interpersonal skills, able to build trusted relationships, influence outcomes, and deliver effective presentations to diverse senior audiences.
Ability to influence enterprise strategy and lead large-scale transformation in a pharmaceutical or other regulated environment, with experience leading enterprise software implementations in a global, 24x7 setting.
Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of the Pharma industry, customer requirements and general business environment to adapt and implement strategic projects. Proven experience in exhibiting high level of business knowledge and understanding of the external marketplace and in anticipating business requirements.
Strong team and people leadership, with experience managing large global organizations, and guiding and growing leaders of leaders . Demonstrated ability to lead in a complex, global matrix with geographically distributed teams and indirect resources.
Financial acumen, managing financial resources and staff to meet goals across multiple functions and projects.
Vendor sourcing model definition and effective execution. Experience in vendor negotiations with cited impacts to strategic direction and in-line production products.
Familiarity with one or more of the following technologies:
