As a VP, Engineering at our company, you will have the exciting opportunity to lead the development of Qualys" next-generation products. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams of engineers and architects to prototype, design, develop, and support highly scalable SaaS-based cloud security services. You will play a crucial part in building Qualys" cutting-edge micro-services products that handle over 100 million transactions and terabytes of data daily, utilizing a mix of open source and proprietary technologies. The ideal candidate for this position will have a proven track record in building large, scalable SaaS products. You should possess a creative mindset, problem-solving skills, teaching abilities, a thirst for learning, and exceptional people management skills. Your key responsibilities will include: - Developing best-in-class Qualys" next-generation products. - Leading the creation of high-performance APIs, libraries, and microservices that can efficiently process massive amounts of data and transactions. - Ensuring the availability of services with zero downtime by collaborating with SRE and operations teams. - Maximizing team productivity by proactively identifying and resolving obstacles. - Establishing and enforcing top-notch processes to maintain high quality and uptime for the developed products. - Researching, evaluating, and adopting next-generation technologies. - Participating in architecture reviews to enhance product performance and scalability. To qualify for this role, you should have: - Over 15 years of hands-on development experience, with a focus on SaaS-based software products for cloud deployments. - Extensive experience in managing global engineering teams. - Strong Java/C++ programming skills and proficiency in object-oriented design. - Knowledge of JVM concepts, microservices architecture, messaging middleware, in-memory caching, and persistence systems. - Expertise in site reliability engineering, data structures, algorithms, and debugging. - A degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, or a related field. - Experience with RDBMS (preferably Oracle) and NoSQL databases (preferably Cassandra). Bonus points if you have experience in: - Building security services from scratch. - Working with container and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. - Utilizing monitoring tools such as Graphite, Grafana, and Prometheus. - Implementing Hashicorp technologies like Consul, Vault, Terraform, and Vagrant. - Using configuration management tools like Chef, Puppet, or Ansible. - Implementing continuous integration and deployment pipelines. - Working with build tools like Maven, Ant, or Gradle.
