Veterinary Consultant

The eligibility, consultancy fee, scope of work/services and other terms & conditions are as under: -

1) Veterinary Consultant

Services required to be rendered by the consultant:

• required to manage the day to day running of the affairs of the Experimental Animal Facility
• responsible for laboratory animal care including breeding and maintenance
• perform health and genetic monitoring/genotyping of small laboratory animals
• organize meetings of and serve on the RCB Institutional Animal Ethics Committee
• train students and researchers on animal handling
• monitor and oversee ongoing experiments and help plan future experiments
• provide expert help on animal experiments
• liaise with CCSEA and nominees on inspections
• ensure compliance of experimental protocols
• perform record keeping as per CCSEA guidelines
• supervise and coordinate individual job duties of a team of animal facility caretakers and housekeeping staff
• ensure that all SOPs are implemented effectively in the animal facility
• help regulatory bodies and authorized personnel perform inspections at regular intervals
• carry out any other related tasks as recommended by the Experimental Animal Facility management committee.

Essential Qualification & Experience: -

• Bachelors degree in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry from a recognized University with 60% or better marks or equivalent grade.
• A minimum of two year post-qualification relevant experience.
• Must be registered with the state veterinary council or veterinary council of India.

Desirable Experience:

• Previous experience of working in a small animal facility, with general care, breeding and maintenance, quality control and understanding of diseases and pathology of laboratory animals.
