User Experience Researcher

As a skilled and proactive Product Researcher & Coordinator, you will join Avalara's Product Experience team to conduct user research, manage participant recruitment, and support evaluative research efforts. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the user-centered design of Avalara's SaaS solutions to meet the diverse needs of a global audience. Collaborating with designers, product managers, and engineers, you will ensure that user insights guide decision-making processes. Your responsibilities will include managing participant recruitment, maintaining databases, scheduling research studies, and ensuring compliance with privacy standards. Additionally, you will administer participant incentives with precision and adherence to organizational guidelines. You will conduct various user research activities, such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, and contextual inquiries. As a backup resource for evaluative research efforts, you will play a crucial role in supporting and scaling the team's impact. Analyzing and presenting research findings will be essential to derive actionable insights for product enhancements. Within your responsibilities, you will manage the end-to-end process of UXR participant recruitment and gratuity administration. Maintaining participant databases with accuracy and data privacy compliance will be a key aspect of your research operations. You will also plan and execute qualitative and quantitative research studies to uncover user behaviors, pain points, and needs, in addition to assisting in evaluative research efforts like usability testing and prototype validation. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will align research findings with business and product goals. Delivering research insights through clear reports, presentations, and workshops will be crucial to drive informed decision-making. Advocating for inclusive research practices, you will ensure that all user groups, including those with disabilities, are represented in the research activities. To be successful in this role, you should have 3-5 years of experience in user research, participant recruitment, or related roles. Proficiency in research tools and platforms like UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, or Dovetail is required. Familiarity with SaaS products and user-centered design principles, strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset are essential. Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA standards and experience with accessibility-focused research will also be beneficial.
