Job Description Agency Manager / Relationship Manager (Agency Channel Motor & General Insurance)

Position:

Role Summary

The Agency Manager/Relationship Manager will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing a team of insurance agents (PoSP/Advisors) to achieve business targets in Motor Insurance and other General Insurance products. The role demands strong sales drive, channel development skills, and customer relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Drive sales of motor insurance and general insurance products through the agency channel.
  • Achieve monthly/quarterly business targets (premium collection, policy issuance, agent activation).
  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities.

Agent Recruitment & Activation

  • Recruit, license, and onboard new insurance agents/PoSPs.
  • Ensure timely activation and productivity of new agents.
  • Improve active agent ratio in the assigned territory.

Training & Mentoring

  • Provide regular product, sales, and compliance training to agents.
  • Motivate, coach, and guide agents to improve performance and retention.

Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with agents to increase loyalty and long-term engagement.
  • Act as the first point of contact for agents, resolving business or service-related issues.
  • Support customers through agents in policy servicing, claim settlement, and renewals.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all business activities comply with IRDAI regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and MIS.
  • Drive ethical business practices and maintain brand reputation.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Recruitment and activation of agents/PoSPs.
  • Premium collection and policy issuance.
  • Agent productivity and persistency ratio (renewals).
  • Agent retention and engagement.
  • Customer satisfaction scores.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Education:

    Graduate in any discipline (MBA preferred).
  • Experience:

    15 years in sales (insurance/BFSI preferred, agency/PoSP channel experience an advantage).
  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Sales and target orientation.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
    • Training and mentoring skills.
    • Knowledge of Motor Insurance products desirable.
