Role Description

Unreal Engine Developer


This is a volunteer-only role. The position does not offer financial compensation. It is an opportunity to collaborate, build portfolio-quality work, and gain experience while contributing to the development of our project.


Unreal Generalist

Responsibilities

  • Create and integrate

    3D models, environments, and assets

    into Unreal Engine.
  • Develop and implement

    animations

    for characters, props, and environments.
  • Use

    Blueprints

    to prototype gameplay features, interactions, and cinematic sequences.
  • Contribute to

    UI/UX implementation

    in Unreal (UMG, HUD design, widget blueprints).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain a consistent visual style and technical quality.
  • Optimize assets and scenes for performance and platform requirements.

Requirments

  • Proficiency in

    3D modeling, texturing, and animation

    (Maya, Blender, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of

    Unreal Engine 5

    (or UE4) asset integration pipelines.
  • Experience with

    Blueprint visual scripting

    .
  • Solid understanding of

    real-time rendering, materials, and lighting

    .
  • Familiarity with

    animation workflows

    (rigging, keyframe, blend spaces, animation blueprints).

Nice To Have

  • Experience with

    UI/UX design in Unreal

    (UMG widgets, HUD systems).
  • Understanding of

    gameplay systems design

    and rapid prototyping.
  • Knowledge of

    Niagara or Cascade

    for VFX.
  • Experience with

    performance profiling and optimization

    in Unreal.
  • A personal portfolio or shipped project demonstrating a range of skills.


Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of Computer Science concepts
  • Solid experience with

    Unreal Engine 5

    , Blueprints, and optionally C++.
  • Skills in Back-End Web Development and Software Development
  • Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or pursuing a degree)
  • Past experience leading or mentoring junior developers is a big plus.
