Trainee Microbiologist

Origine Secret is seeking a Microbiologist Intern to join our Research & Development team in Chennai. This is a part-time internship role designed for students and recent graduates eager to apply their microbiology knowledge in a real-world, innovation-driven environment.

As a Microbiologist Intern, you will support the development and validation of formulations for our natural haircare range. You will be actively involved in conducting laboratory tests, microbial analysis, and quality assurance checks to ensure product safety, stability, and efficacy. The role provides hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and exposure to the entire product development lifecycle, from early-stage research to final product testing.

In addition to routine lab work, the intern will collaborate closely with the formulation science team, learning how microbiology plays a crucial role in the creation of safe, effective, and innovative beauty care products. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

• Assist in the development and validation of formulations by applying microbiological principles in product research.

• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment in accordance with standard procedures.

• Perform stability testing and preservative efficacy testing to support formulation development.

• Document test results, prepare reports, and maintain accurate laboratory records in compliance with quality management systems.

• Support the Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) teams in monitoring product consistency and safety throughout production.

• Collaborate with formulation technologists to evaluate the impact of natural ingredients on product microbiology and stability.

• Stay updated with new trends, research, and regulatory requirements in cosmetic microbiology and natural product development.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge of Microbiology and laboratory techniques.

• Hands-on experience with microbial culture methods, laboratory testing, and aseptic techniques.

• Familiarity with Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) practices in laboratory or product testing environments.

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, research-driven environment.

• Currently pursuing or having completed a degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, or related life sciences field.

• Passionate about natural products, scientific innovation, and sustainable beauty care solutions.
