Job Description

Role Overview: As a member of The Guardian Technology Operations Team, you will collaborate closely with Development and DevOps teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of systems. Your role will involve a combination of software engineering and IT operations to manage infrastructure and develop scalable, highly reliable software systems. Key Responsibilities: - Automate operational tasks such as deployments, changes, and incident response. - Utilize Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and other configuration management capabilities to implement changes in the Cloud environment. - Provide operational application deployment support using standardized code deployment pipelines. - Possess excellent experience in running and managing Linux and Windows Servers/Compute environments, with Linux being primary. - Collaborate with DevOps and Application Support teams to enhance system reliability and performance. - Actively participate in incidents and root cause analysis for production incidents and implement preventative measures. - Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and proactively address them. - Participate in an on-call rotation to offer 24/7 support for production systems. - Document processes, procedures, and system configurations. - Have good exposure to managing Network, Middleware, Database, applications, and InfoSec environments. - Demonstrate excellent communication skills. - Manage situations and outages effectively. - Develop a good understanding of Business applications and their dependencies on IT Infrastructure. - Monitor the ServiceNow ticket queue and event monitoring tools (Zenoss) for incoming incidents and requests. - Initiate/attend/participate in outages and work towards resolution. - Propose defects and product/infrastructure enhancements to improve stability and automation. Qualifications Required: - 5+ years of experience in managing IT Systems, with expertise in OS environments, especially Linux. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. - Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation. - Willingness to work in 24x7x365 shifts on a rotational basis. - Comfortable working in a highly critical, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. - Good working experience with RHEL Linux and Windows Operating systems. - Strong familiarity with cloud platforms, especially AWS services (VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, Cloudtrail, Cloudwatch). - Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy, Bash). - Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and Puppet. - Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. - Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and related tools like Jenkins, ArgoCD, and Git workflows. - Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues. - Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
