Technician

Position: Technician – Vehicle Evaluation & Testing (Diploma or ITI only)

Location: Chennai (Vellivoyalchavadi)

Job Purpose:

To support the vehicle evaluation and testing team by conducting vehicle performance tests, durability trials, and component evaluations as per test plans, ensuring accurate data collection, safe operations, and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct vehicle-level and component-level tests (performance, endurance, ride & handling, braking, NVH, emission, etc.) as per standard test procedures.
• Perform vehicle preparation, instrumentation fitment, and calibration before testing.
• Carry out regular maintenance, inspection, and rectification of test vehicles during test cycles.
• Assist in installation and removal of data acquisition systems and sensors.
• Record test results, observations, and deviations accurately in logbooks and digital formats.
• Support root cause analysis of failures and coordinate with engineers for corrective actions.
• Ensure safety compliance during all test operations (track and lab).
• Maintain test facilities, tools, and equipment in good condition.
• Assist in test vehicle transportation and scheduling for different test activities.
• Work closely with R&D, prototype, and quality teams to achieve validation targets.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of automotive systems (engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electricals).
• Hands-on experience in vehicle servicing, assembly, and diagnostic tools.
• Basic understanding of testing instruments and data logging systems (e.g., sensors, CAN, DAQ).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and service manuals.
• Proficient in using workshop tools and measuring instruments.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Commitment to safety, accuracy, and discipline in testing operations.

Educational Qualification:

• Diploma / ITI in Automobile, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

Experience:

• 2–5 years of experience in vehicle testing, validation, or service (preferably in R&D or OEM environment).
• Experience in prototype or endurance testing is an added advantage.
