Job Description

As a Technical Writer in the software industry based in Mumbai, India, your main responsibility will be to create clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for various software products, APIs, user guides, release notes, and online help content. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and customer support to ensure that complex technical information is translated into user-friendly documents that cater to different audiences. Your key responsibilities will include developing, updating, and maintaining technical documentation such as user manuals, API documentation, system guides, release notes, and troubleshooting guides. You will collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and UX designers to gather information and ensure accuracy in documentation. Designing and implementing documentation strategies, templates, and best practices to ensure consistency, clarity, and ease of use will be part of your content strategy. Your writing should focus on creating content that helps end-users, both technical and non-technical, understand and effectively use software products. In addition, you will be responsible for managing documentation tools, maintaining document repositories and content management systems, editing and proofreading existing content for style, accuracy, and grammar, ensuring adherence to established style guides and content standards, writing release notes, updating documentation according to product updates and version releases, staying current with industry best practices, and continuously improving content quality through research. To qualify for this position, you should have a Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field, along with at least 3 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the software or IT industry. You should possess a strong understanding of software development processes like Agile and Scrum, familiarity with software engineering terms and concepts, experience with API documentation and related tools such as Swagger and Postman, proficiency in tools like Microsoft Word, MadCap Flare, Confluence, Jira, Adobe Acrobat, and version control systems like Git, familiarity with content management systems and documentation publishing platforms, excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, a keen eye for detail and technical accuracy, ability to quickly learn new software tools, systems, and products, strong organizational and multitasking abilities, experience with Markdown, HTML, CSS, and basic scripting languages is a plus, and strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Preferred qualifications include experience in writing for SaaS products, APIs, or cloud-based software, using video or screen capture tools to create multimedia documentation or tutorials, and experience with localization of documentation for international audiences.,
