Technical Illustrator

remote, part-time role

Responsibilities

• Develop technical illustrations, diagrams, and exploded views of mechanical assemblies.
• Collaborate with product engineers, designers, and technical writers to interpret design specifications and translate them into visual content.
• Produce illustrations for instruction manuals, assembly guides, installation procedures, and product labeling.
• Ensure consistency with brand style, visual standards, and technical accuracy across all illustrations.
• Revise and update illustrations based on feedback or product changes.
• Ensure steps are mirroring the assembly diagrams and then correct them as needed.
• Manage illustration assets and maintain version control across projects.
• Occasionally support marketing and eCommerce teams with rendered visuals or simplified diagrams for consumer-facing platforms.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technical Illustrator, preferably in home equipment, furniture, or consumer products.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Illustrator, SolidWorks Composer, AutoCAD, CorelDRAW, or equivalent 2D/3D design tools.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of perspective, isometric drawing, and visual storytelling.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A strong portfolio showcasing relevant technical illustration work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with furniture design, mechanical parts, or home appliance components.
• Experience working with manufacturing or product development teams.
• Knowledge of UI/UX design or animation is a plus.
