Job Description

The Technical Coordinator role requires the provision of leadership and guidance to colleagues and partners who input, review and support KYC compliance services aligned to:
  • AML Legislation/Regulation & Guidance/Best Practice
  • US AML Processes and procedures
There is a requirement to hold, build and maintain a very strong relationship with the Northern Trust WM CRF Review Team in Chicago - USA to deliver a comprehensive AML/KYC review to Northern Trust s wealth management client base for banking and trust products.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • May manage daily operational activities and supervise day-to-day work of junior level employees (but not a formal management role)
  • Monitors and complete tasks through WM CRF Review team workflow application process.
  • Takes responsibility for the timely allocation and accurate completion of workload of Wealth Management documentation reviews.
  • Actively participates in the review of wealth management documentation and information pursuant to trigger events in adherence with Northern Trust s AML processes and procedures.
  • Works with colleagues and line management in reviewing such wealth management trust and banking documentation and efficiently highlighting due diligence documentation (if any) requiring update, due to inadequacy or aging by agreed modes of communication, with professionalism of approach and timely escalation of material issues arising.
  • Escalates more complex problems and critical issues, to his/her line manager, including those received from other Northern Trust partners (including primarily the US WM CRF Review Team in Chicago).
  • Works with colleagues and line management to ensure that all queries are dealt with efficiently and professionally.
  • Takes responsibility for full review of client relationship form in the KYC system for individual wealth management clients that follow AML processes and procedures and provides regular, meaningful and accurate periodic updates to his/her line manager and colleagues in Pune and Chicago.
  • Maintains strong working relationships with front office partners in the US and WM CRF Review Team in Chicago.
  • Works with his/her line management and other colleagues to ensure that the CRF Review Team in Pune meet the required audit, risk and compliance standards as determined, from time to time, in accordance with advised changes in processes and procedures pursuant to amendments in guidance and best practice.
  • Perform Quality Control/Audits to ensure adherence to key controls and regulations.
  • Focuses on resolution of complex transactions interpreting policies, guidelines and/or processes.
  • Identify and document new procedures and controls.
  • Provide input to process changes which would result in greater operational efficiency.
  • More technically sound in area of expertise and has broader knowledge of other areas.
  • Delivers a work product that requires less revision.
  • Able to facilitate discussions and reach decisions.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Candidate to have minimum 4-6 years industry years of experience in related industry (Wealth Management, AML KYC, AML Regulations)
At least 1 Year people management experience for external candidates.
For internal candidates (within Northern Trust)
Technical Coordinator, at least 2 years of AML/KYC experience in a TC role. At least 1 year as a Technical Coordinator, (AML/KYC experience preferred) Graduation in Commerce. Additional qualification in preferred (e.g., CA/ CS/ CWA/CFA/ MBA), AML certifications Demonstrate a good understanding of processes including AML / KYC / wealth management client onboarding (Highly Desirable) Knowledge/ understanding of Luxembourg/Ireland/Guernsey/UK, US regulatory environment (Highly Desirable) Knowledge of day-to-day AML processes and procedures, and the wider funds administration business (Highly Desirable) Previous experience in an AML servicing role (Preferred) Strong organizational and communication skills (Essential) Effective risk management (Essential) Flexible approach to work Strong drive on data protection and compliance requirements (Desirable) Client Service experience, preferably gained in an investment administration environment Ability to work on own initiative (Essential) Ability to research and understand issues and deliver solutions agreed with line management (Highly Desirable) General knowledge of Microsoft Office applications relating to designated areas of responsibility
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant industry experience in US AML Compliance.
  • Serve as a control point for client relationship form review following client onboarding/product opening.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Documentation analysis and ability to research and understand KYC CRF requirements to identify exceptions.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office applications relating to designated areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to create and foster an inclusive environment within overall team.
  • Ability to learn and share client strategy, infrastructure, products, and key personnel across the organization
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of AML good practices, onboarding KYC for Individual profiles & entity profiles, AML Regulations and CIP. Uses this knowledge to promote enhancements to Northern Trust s AML processes and procedures.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
The successful candidate is required to comply, and ensure direct reports comply with the global AML regulatory regime in which Northern Trust operates as appropriate to the above role.
The successful candidate is expected to exercise due care and diligence, and ensure that the responsibilities of the role are organized and controlled within the ambit of regulation, compliance and risk management. The successful candidate is required to observe proper standards of market, business and personal conduct, demonstrating integrity in the execution of such duties.
INTERNAL CANDIDATES:
  • 24 months as an Associate Consultant/Senior Analyst OR 12 months as a Technical Coordinator
  • Knowledge of NT Trust and banking source account opening systems
  • Knowledge of trust and banking product documentation to verify required legal documents and associated information to understand legal entity setups and account ownership.
  • Some knowledge of Northern Trust Wealth Management business is ideal
ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • The successful candidate is required to comply with the US AML Compliance and NT Lines of Business procedural AML process in which Northern Trust operates as appropriate to the above role.
  • The successful candidate is expected to exercise due care and diligence, and ensure that the responsibilities of the role are organized and controlled within compliance and risk management.
