Team Lead / Assistant Manager - IT Infrastructure Support

Role & responsibilities

Job Summary:

The TL/AM IT Infrastructure Support will be responsible for managing the universitys core IT infrastructure, including Wintel and Linux servers, networking equipment, firewall systems, storage solutions, and end-user support services. This role requires a hands-on technical expert who can ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of the campus IT systems.

1. Server & Operating System Management (Wintel/Linux):

Manage and maintain Windows Server (2012/2016/2019) and Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) environments.

Basic understanding of IIS, Apache,Nginx.

Scripting Powershell, bash.

Perform regular patching, upgrades, and system hardening as per UGC and NAAC IT audit compliance.

Ensure availability of virtualized servers and backup environments for academic and administrative services.

2. Networking & Firewall:

Monitor and manage campus LAN/WAN, including fiber and wireless connectivity across departments and hostels.

Manage firewall devices (Fortinet) and configure access control lists as per policy.

3. Storage & Backup:

Administer campus-wide NAS/SAN storage systems and maintain regular data backups.

4. End-User Computing & Support:

Lead a team of IT support engineers to provide L1/L2 support for faculty, staff, and student IT issues.

Support desktops, laptops, printers, biometric attendance systems, and lecture rooms IT and Audio/visual systems.

5. Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain asset inventory, IT service documentation, and network schematics.

Submit periodic reports on system uptime, IT helpdesk status, and audit findings.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

M365 and Cloud services & operations

Bachelors degree in computer science, IT, or related discipline (MCA/B. Tech preferred).

Certifications preferred: MCSE, RHCE, CCNA, ITIL Foundation, Fortinet NSE.

Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux server administration, network troubleshooting

Experience in managing campus-wide IT infrastructure in an educational or research institution.

Strong communication and team management abilities.

Shift & Availability:

General working hours with flexibility for extended support during scheduled university events and emergencies. On-call availability required for critical systems.
