Sustainability Manager

Job Purpose:

The Manager Sustainability will support the development and execution of sustainability strategies across AESL. This role focuses on enhancing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance, promoting resource efficiency, and ensuring compliance with national and international sustainability standards. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed sustainability into core business operations and drive long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities:

Sustainability Strategy & Integration

• Assist in integrating sustainability and climate change considerations into business operations.
• Identify and assess climate-related risks and opportunities.
• Promote sustainable practices and drive GHG emission reduction initiatives.

ESG Reporting & Compliance

• Support ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting aligned with GRI, SASB, TCFD frameworks.
• Ensure transparency and accuracy in sustainability disclosures.
• Prepare ESG performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Environmental Management & Regulatory Compliance

• Implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
• Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and conduct audits.
• Support Integrated Management System (IMS) initiatives.

Sustainability Due Diligence & Investment Compliance

• Conduct ESG due diligence for new investments and projects.
• Align investment decisions with sustainability goals and financial institution requirements.
• Collaborate with finance teams to integrate ESG into financial planning.

Stakeholder Engagement & Representation

• Engage with internal departments and external stakeholders including ESG rating agencies, consultants, and auditors.
• Represent AESL at industry forums and sustainability conferences.
• Build strategic partnerships to advance sustainability goals.

Team Development & Collaboration

• Support and guide the sustainability team to ensure high performance.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
• Develop training programs to enhance sustainability competencies.

Risk Management & Innovation

• Identify and manage sustainability-related risks including regulatory and climate risks.
• Drive continuous improvement and explore emerging technologies for sustainability enhancement.

• ESG Rating Agencies (Sustainalytics, CDP, DJSI, FTSE, MSCI)

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:

  B.E./B.Tech. (mandatory); Diploma in Environment or Master’s in Sustainability preferred.

• Experience:

  5–10 years in Environment & Sustainability roles.

• Technical Knowledge:

• ESMS (Environmental & Social Management Systems)
• IMS (Integrated Management Systems)
• ESG frameworks and financial institution E&S requirements
