Surgery Coder - Medical Coder

Job Title: Same Day Surgery Coder

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze medical records, operative reports, and other documentation to ensure accurate coding of procedures and diagnoses.

• Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for same day surgeries in accordance with coding guidelines and payer requirements.

• Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation when necessary to ensure completeness and accuracy.

• Stay updated on changes in coding standards, regulations, and best practices to maintain compliance and enhance coding accuracy.

• Provide education and support to clinical staff regarding proper documentation practices and coding requirements.

• Assist in the preparation of reports related to coding accuracy, productivity, and compliance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in health information management or related field preferred.

• Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), or similar credential is preferred.

• Minimum 4 years of experience in medical coding, with specific experience in same day surgery coding preferred.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures.

• Proficient in coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
