Job Title: Supervisor – Tool Manufacturing

Department: Tool Room / Manufacturing
Reports To: Tool Room Manager / Production Manager

Job Purpose

To supervise and coordinate tool manufacturing operations, ensuring timely production of high-quality tools while maintaining safety, efficiency, and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day tool manufacturing activities (jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, cutting tools, etc.).
• Allocate work to machinists, toolmakers, and operators as per production plans.
• Monitor machining processes (CNC/VMC, milling, turning, grinding, EDM, fitting).
• Ensure adherence to drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with design, production, quality, and maintenance teams.
• Track progress, resolve shop-floor issues, and ensure on-time delivery of tools.
• Implement and maintain 5S, TPM, and safety practices in the tool room.
• Train, guide, and evaluate tool room staff and apprentices.
• Reduce tool manufacturing lead time, scrap, and rework.
• Maintain tool room documentation, logs, and reports.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of tool manufacturing processes and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Hands-on experience with CNC machines and conventional machines.
• Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Leadership, team handling, and communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of quality systems (ISO, IATF – if applicable).

Qualifications

• Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical, Tool & Die, or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in tool manufacturing, with supervisory experience preferred.
