Sub Editor

The Sub Editor is responsible for reviewing, editing, and improving written content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency. The role involves proofreading, fact-checking, rewriting, and ensuring that all material aligns with the publication’s style guide and editorial standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Edit, proofread, and refine articles, features, and other written content for grammar, punctuation, tone, and style.
• Ensure factual accuracy, coherence, and logical flow of content.
• Rewrite or restructure copy when necessary without changing the intended meaning.
• Check headlines, captions, and subheadings for relevance and engagement.
• Verify sources, names, data, and statistics for accuracy.
• Coordinate with writers, reporters, designers, and senior editors to meet publication deadlines.
• Ensure adherence to editorial policies, ethical guidelines, and brand voice.
• Suggest improvements in layout, visuals, and presentation of stories.
• Stay updated on current events, trends, and audience interests to maintain content relevance.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field.
• Experience (1 years) as a Sub Editor, Copy Editor, or similar role in publishing or media.
• Strong attention to detail and editorial judgment.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in editorial tools, CMS platforms, and MS Office/Google Workspace.
