Role Objective:

Sportstar is looking for a Social Media Sub-Editor who can adapt and publish content for social platforms, focusing on engaging headlines, visuals (images/videos), and trending topics. The candidate should focus on editing for clarity, scheduling posts, analysing performance, and coordinating with writers to maximise reach and engagement across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, etc.

Role & responsibilities

• Content Creation & Curation:

  Writing catchy headlines/captions, creating visuals (Reels, graphics), and finding trending stories.

• Platform Management:

  Posting and scheduling content across different platforms (FB, Insta, X, etc.).

• Editorial Quality:

  Ensuring accuracy and clarity.

• Trend Spotting:

  Identifying breaking news and viral trends to leverage.

• Audience Engagement:

  Moderating comments, interacting with followers, and building community.

• Performance Analysis:

  Tracking metrics (reach, engagement) to refine future strategies.

• Collaboration:

  Working with reporters, editors, and design teams.

Preferred candidate profile

• Sharp news sense and editorial judgment.
• Excellent writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
• Knowledge of social media algorithms and best practices.
• Familiarity with tools like Canva, Photoshop, and analytics platforms.
