Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory & Stores Management:

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of inventory, including receiving, inspection (quality and quantity checks), accurate binning, and storage of steel products (coils, plates, bars, etc.).
  • Implement and manage a robust system for inventory tracking using our ERP system (e.g., SAP MM/WM).
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, stock audits, and full physical verifications to ensure inventory accuracy and minimise discrepancies.
  • Manage and optimise warehouse space for efficient storage and material movement.
  • Ensure proper material preservation to prevent rust, damage, or degradation.

Operations & Logistics:

  • Manage all inbound and outbound logistics, coordinating with transporters for timely vehicle placement for loading and unloading.
  • Supervise dispatch activities, ensuring accurate picking, packing (if applicable), and loading of finished goods as per delivery challans and sales orders.
  • Ensure all documentation, such as Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), gate passes, and dispatch records, is meticulously maintained.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and train a team of warehouse supervisors, crane operators, forklift drivers, and support staff.
  • Manage shift rosters, allocate daily tasks, and monitor team performance to achieve departmental KPIs.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.

Safety, Health & Environment (HSE):

  • Champion a "safety-first" culture. Enforce strict adherence to all safety protocols for material handling, especially for heavy steel products using EOT cranes and heavy-duty forklifts.
  • Ensure all team members always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct regular safety briefings (toolbox talks) and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Process Improvement & Reporting:

  • Identify areas for operational improvement to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on key warehouse metrics, such as inventory turnover, stock levels, dispatch timelines, and safety incidents.
  • Liaise effectively with other departments, including Production, Planning, Procurement, and Sales, to ensure seamless operations.
