You ll be part of a multidisciplinary propulsion engineering group focused on developing next-generation gas turbine engines for aerospace.
The Design and Installation Services COE (DISCOE) within the Engine and Power Systems (EPS) directorate is responsible for design and development of Propulsion Engines and Auxiliary Power Systems. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for propulsion engine components design. The candidate is expected to use his/her expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes and tools to ensure compliance to customer and program requirements.
The candidate must demonstrate strong mechanical design knowledge, application of aerospace practices and sound engineering judgment. The candidate must use experience and judgment to accomplish goals, exercise Honeywell initiatives and generate innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead mechanical design
of engine components including rotor, stator, casing, and support structures. - Collaborate with structural engineers to ensure
structural, thermal, and fatigue analysis
meets the system requirements. - Collaborate with aerothermal engineers to ensure
aerodynamic and thermodynamic compatibility
of designs. - Develop and validate
CAD models and detailed drawings
for manufacturing and assembly. - Support
design reviews, root cause investigations
, and continuous improvement initiatives. - Interface with
materials, manufacturing, and testing teams
to ensure design feasibility and performance. - Support
test activities, define instrumentation and test plans, analyze test data
, troubleshoot. - Mentor
junior engineers
and contribute to technical leadership within the propulsion engineering team.
Minimum qualification and experience
- Bachelor s or master s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in gas turbine mechanical design, with emphasis on LPT modules.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA) and FEA tools.
- Strong understanding of rotating machinery, heat transfer, and vibration analysis.
- Experience with design for manufacturability and reliability in aerospace environments.
- Proven ability to design mechanical components for gas turbine engines or aircraft systems or Aircraft primary structure.
- Should be a Self-starter and work independently, with strong oral and written communication.
Preference:
- Must demonstrate
Aircraft industry practices, processes and methods
. - Familiarity with
aerospace propulsion systems
, including turbofan and turbojet engines. - Demonstrates drawing interpretations, spec interpretations, manufacturing techniques and GDT.
- Proven ability in converting design concepts into a manufacturing drawings. Must demonstrate design to cost / manufacturing and detail design.
- Should be an expert in using
CAD tools
like UGNX, CATIA V5. Should handle advanced modelling techniques like PMI, MBD, FIberSIM. - Should be an expert in using
PLM tools
like Team center, ENOVIA, PDM. - Understands change management, configuration management and documentation.
- Exposure to
CAD and PLM automation
will be added advantage. - Knowledge of
advanced materials
(e.g., superalloys, thermal barrier coatings). - Strong communication and
cross-functional collaboration
skills.
