Special Educator

Role Overview: Lady Andal House of Children (LAHOC) is an established special school in Chennai, dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome. As a Special Educator at LAHOC, you will be part of a dynamic team working with learners with multiple disabilities and guiding participants in the NIOS Program. Your role will involve supporting diverse learners, fostering inclusive education, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and adults with special needs. Key Responsibilities: - Develop, implement, and regularly review Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs, in collaboration with parents, therapists, and other school staff. - Deliver customised instruction to students based on their individual needs and learning styles. - Modify the standard curriculum to meet the abilities of students with disabilities. - Implement and monitor behaviour intervention plans and use positive behaviour supports. - Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, counsellors, and parents to support students" academic and social development. - Assess and track student performance and progress regularly, adjusting goals accordingly. - Maintain a supportive, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all students. - Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, assessments, and communications. - Participate in training and workshops to stay updated on special education practices, legal requirements, and instructional strategies. Qualifications Required: - Bachelors or P.G. Diploma or Masters degree in Special Education or equivalent in Multiple Disabilities. - 3 to 7 years of experience working with children and adults with multiple disabilities. - Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills. - Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids and devices. - Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams. - Good organizational and documentation skills. - Proficiency in English and Tamil due to the bilingual medium of instruction. - Familiarity with assistive technology and specialized instructional strategies.,
