Job Description

Hiring a Social Media Copywriter (English, Remote) - for TOAST

Hi, I’m Simran - posting this on behalf of our founder, Aditi.

At TOAST, we’re building something intentional - and if you’ve ever looked at a brand’s post and thought, “This could’ve been written better,” you might be one of us.

This isn’t your typical “we’re hiring” post.

This is a we-care-about-words-and-their-weight kind of post.

Not someone who asks ChatGPT to “make this sound witty.”

Someone who knows how to make words sound like a person.

What you’ll do

  • Write

    social media copy

    — captions, carousel copy, and short-form campaigns — for TOAST and our clients.
  • Adapt tone and style across different brands — from grounded to playful, bold to warm.
  • Research before you write — understand the audience, industry, and intent behind every post.
  • Collaborate with design and strategy teams so words and visuals flow seamlessly.
  • Bring fresh ideas and creative angles for recurring content (launches, brand stories, campaigns).

About our clients

We don’t usually take on IT, healthcare, finance, or heavy tech projects — so if your strengths lie more in creative or culture-driven industries, you’ll fit right in.

You should have

  • 2–4 years of writing experience (agency, brand, or freelance).
  • A strong command of English — tone, brevity, and nuance matter.
  • Experience writing for

    social-first content

(Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Pinterest, sometimes TikTok).
  • Curiosity — you like understanding how a brand feels, not just what it sells.
  • Proficiency in: Google Docs, Notion, Grammarly, and Canva.

To apply

Include:

  1. A short intro

    — who you are and what kind of brands or tones you love writing for.
  2. 4–5 short-form samples

    — captions, carousel copy, or campaign snippets that show your range.
  3. Your top 3 niches

    — what industries or topics you enjoy and understand best (e.g. lifestyle, travel, F&B, entrepreneurship, wellness, etc.).
  4. Your writing process

    — how do you decide what to write, what do you research, and how do you approach different brands?
  5. Your current availability

    (part-time / freelance).
  6. Your expected freelance arrangement per month

    - how you prefer to work (e.g. X posts per month or retainer-based).
