As a Socio-economics Functional Area Expert, you are required to possess educational qualifications specific to the field. This includes a Masters (post graduate) degree in Social Welfare, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Geography, Anthropology, Economics, Environmental Economics, Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Developmental Sciences, Rural Development and Management, rural economics, Economic Sociology, Demographic Studies, or an MBA in Rural Management. Alternatively, you can also have a degree in any other social science related subject or a 2 years Post Graduate Diploma in Sociology from recognized institutions like Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Xavier Institute of Social Sciences, Ranchi, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, XLRI, Jamshedpur, or other reputed institutes. Your experience in this field should involve conducting baseline socio-economic surveys through various means such as interviews, questionnaires, focused group discussions, participatory rural appraisal (PRA), or rapid rural appraisal (RRA). You should be familiar with methodologies for extrapolating census data to project current status with ground validation. Additionally, you are expected to conduct social needs assessment studies, evaluate the socio-economic status of tribal and non-tribal areas, and have the ability to interact and build rapport at the community level. Experience in conducting Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R & R) studies for people displaced due to developmental projects, developing R & R plans, and assessing social changes arising from development projects will be advantageous. In addition to the above requirements, you should have adequate knowledge of EIA legislation processes in India, contribute to EIA documentation, understand policies, guidelines, and legislation related to R & R issues, and preferably have training on Social Impact Assessment of development projects in Rural/Urban areas. For the role of Functional Area Expert in Socio Economic (general), a minimum of 5 years of total experience in the relevant area/s is required for category A projects. Out of the 5 years of experience, 3 years should be specifically related to EIA in the functional area/s. Ph.D./M Tech (Dissertation) experience may be considered by the accreditation committee based on the recommendation of assessors, if relevant.,
