Role Overview


SharePoint Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities

🔹 L1 Responsibilities (Basic Support)

  • Act as the

    first point of contact

    for SharePoint-related incidents and service requests.
  • Log and categorize tickets accurately in the ITSM tool (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Provide basic troubleshooting support (e.g., access issues, navigation problems).
  • Assist users in creating and managing SharePoint document libraries, lists, and pages.
  • Grant or revoke permissions based on approved requests.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to L2 support with detailed documentation.

🔹 L2 Responsibilities (Intermediate Support)

  • Handle escalated tickets from L1, including in-depth troubleshooting of SharePoint sites and workflows.
  • Perform routine maintenance, health checks, and backups for SharePoint environments.
  • Manage site collections, content databases, and storage quotas.
  • Create and manage SharePoint groups, permission levels, and inheritance configurations.
  • Configure and troubleshoot out-of-the-box web parts, lists, libraries, and views.
  • Assist with migration projects (e.g., on-premises SharePoint to SharePoint Online).
  • Support integrations with Microsoft 365 apps, including

    Power Automate (Flow)

    and

    PowerApps

    .

Required Skills & Qualifications

For L1 Support:

  • Familiarity with SharePoint interface and basic site functionalities.
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365 and Office tools.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of permission models and document management.

For L2 Support:

  • Hands-on experience with SharePoint Online and/or SharePoint 2013/2016/2019.
  • Strong knowledge of user management, permissions, and site administration.
  • Experience troubleshooting SharePoint components and workflows.
  • Exposure to

    Power Automate

    ,

    PowerApps

    , InfoPath, or Nintex forms (nice to have).
  • Ability to document procedures and update knowledge bases effectively.

Preferred Certifications (Good to Have)

  • Microsoft 365 Certified

    : Teams Administrator Associate / Collaboration Engineer
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
