JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Senior System Applications Specialist
Job Summary:
The System Applications Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for enterprise applications and their underlying databases. This role ensures application availability, resolves incidents, and performs root cause analysis while managing databases such as Oracle, IBM Db2, and Microsoft SQL Server. The position also supports application servers like IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic, as well as cloud and ERP solutions including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Dynamics.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide application support for enterprise systems, ensuring uptime and performance.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve application and database-related issues.

Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring problems.

Administer and maintain databases (Oracle, IBM Db2, SQL Server) including backups, tuning, and security.

Support middleware and application servers (IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic).

Collaborate with development teams for deployments and patching.

Document incidents, resolutions, and system changes for knowledge sharing.

Assist with upgrades, migrations, and integration projects.

Ensure compliance with IT policies and security standards.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Skills knowledge and experience:
Essential:

Strong experience in application support and database administration.

Expertise in Oracle, IBM Db2, and SQL Server.

Knowledge of IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic, and middleware technologies.

Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Dynamics.

Proficiency in SQL and performance tuning.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable:

Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python).

Education and qualifications
