Senior Steward

Job Description

The Senior Steward plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the kitchen and service areas. This role involves supervising a team of stewards, ensuring that all cleaning, sanitation, and dishwashing duties are performed efficiently and according to health and safety guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of stewarding staff. Ensure the cleanliness and sanitization of all kitchen utensils, cookware, cutlery, and equipment. Monitor dishwashing machines and manual cleaning processes. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, waste disposal areas, and storage areas. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations. Assist in receiving and proper storage of kitchen supplies. Schedule and assign stewarding duties and shifts as per operational needs. Inspect and maintain cleaning equipment, report malfunctions as needed. Work closely with the kitchen and service teams to ensure smooth operations. Train new stewards in proper cleaning procedures and safety protocols. Requirements: 1–3 years of experience in kitchen stewarding, preferably in a supervisory or senior role. Knowledge of commercial kitchen cleaning procedures and hygiene standards. Ability to operate dishwashing machines and handle cleaning equipment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Team-oriented with basic leadership abilities. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
