As the accessibility of digital course content is becoming increasingly important world-wide, institutions must address long-standing and often overbearing challenges. Anthology’s Ally engineering team is responsible for developing industry-leading tools to improve accessibility through inclusivity, sustainability, and automation for all students.As a Senior Software Engineer on the Ally product, you will act as a technical leader, translating product concepts into scalable, well-designed solutions, even when requirements are ambiguous. You will guide a small team of engineers through implementation, testing, and deployment of new and enhanced product features partnering closely with Product, development, design, and other stakeholders. You will also drive improvements to Ally’s performance and reliability, mentoring others and elevating the overall quality of the product.You’ll build an ethical product using Scala on the backend, Node.js for microservices, JavaScript and Angular on the frontend, and Git for source control. Ally runs on AWS, and you’ll apply cloud fundamentals to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-efficient solutions. You’ll collaborate with a distributed, global team to ship high-quality software that makes a meaningful impact.

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

• 6-8 years of relevant experience
• Frontend development in Angular/Typescript
• Backend development in Scala, Java, C#, or other object-oriented programming language
• Willingness to break things and make them work again
• Familiarity with the full-cycle development process
• Experience designing, developing, building, testing, deploying, and operating application
• Fluency in written and spoken English
  

Preferred skills/qualifications:

• Familiarity with working with cloud technologies
• Functional programming experiences such as Haskell or Scala
• Experience working in a software product company delivering features for and maintaining a commercial software product
