Job Summary

This position is responsible for end-to-end transmission and distribution operations within the Patna region. The role encompasses grid management, infrastructure maintenance, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional coordination to ensure reliable power delivery and optimal performance of T&D assets. The candidate must possess deep technical expertise, strategic acumen, and strong leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Transmission & Distribution Management

• Supervise the operation and maintenance of high-voltage transmission lines (132kV–400kV), substations, and distribution feeders.
• Ensure grid reliability, load forecasting, real-time power flow management, and minimal outages.
• Liaise with SLDCs/RLDCs for scheduled and unscheduled outage coordination.

Asset Maintenance & Infrastructure Planning

• Implement predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
• Assess and upgrade critical assets including transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, and SCADA systems.
• Plan new infrastructure in alignment with regional load growth and smart grid initiatives.

Performance, Safety & Compliance

• Monitor KPIs such as:
• SAIFI (System Average Interruption Frequency Index)
• SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index)
• AT&C (Aggregate Technical & Commercial) loss reduction
• Transformer and feeder failure rates
• Ensure compliance with CEA, CERC, and state regulatory norms.
• Drive safety culture with regular audits, training, and incident investigations.

Stakeholder & Vendor Relations

• Coordinate with DISCOMs, EPC contractors, material suppliers, and external consultants.
• Manage technical specifications, SLAs, and cost negotiations with service providers.
• Facilitate regulatory inspections, public utility reviews, and consumer grievance redressal.

Team & Organizational Leadership

• Lead teams of engineers, technicians, and site staff across multiple zones.
• Drive performance reviews, capability development, and mentorship initiatives.
• Foster a collaborative and accountable work culture aligned with organizational values.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of grid operations, protection systems, smart metering, SCADA, GIS

Strategic Thinking

Planning for load demand, expansion, and renewable integration

Experience managing large teams and complex multi-location operations

Qualifications & Experience

Education

B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (M.Tech preferred)

Experience

20–25 years in T&D operations, ideally with DISCOMs, EPCs, or public utilities

Certifications

Preferred: PMP, Safety & Grid Operation Training, Energy Management
