Senior News Editor

The News Editor will oversee day-to-day news coverage, manage a team of reporters, edit content for clarity and accuracy, and ensure that stories meet our editorial standards. This role requires quick decision-making, exceptional editing skills, and the ability to balance breaking news with in-depth reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign, edit, and publish news stories across multiple beats (politics, business, culture, technology, etc.)
• Ensure all content meets editorial guidelines, accuracy standards, and ethical journalism practices
• Work closely with reporters to develop story ideas and strengthen their reporting skills
• Oversee breaking news coverage with speed and accuracy
• Write headlines and improve SEO/engagement strategies for published stories
• Coordinate with digital, social media, and design teams to maximize reach and impact
• Monitor news wires, press releases, and trending topics for coverage opportunities
• Uphold deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment

Requirements & Qualifications

✅ Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field (Master’s preferred)

3–5 years of newsroom/editorial experience

✅ Strong command of AP style and journalistic ethics

✅ Excellent writing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills

✅ Ability to manage and mentor a team of reporters

✅ Experience handling breaking news situations

✅ Proficiency with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools

✅ Understanding of SEO, audience engagement, and analytics

✅ Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
