Job Title: Senior ICU Nurse
Location: Manipal Hospital, Yelahanka Job Description: The Senior ICU Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role involves monitoring patients' conditions, administering medications, coordinating with medical staff, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The nurse will also play a key role in educating patients and their families about treatment plans and procedures. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: - Assess and monitor patients' health status and vital signs continuously. - Administer medications, intravenous therapy, and other treatments as per physician orders. - Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. - Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide life-saving interventions. - Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation. - Educate patients and families regarding care plans, medications, and recovery processes. - Ensure compliance with infection control policies and safety protocols. - Mentor and train junior nursing staff and support staff in ICU protocols. - Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits to enhance patient care standards. Skills and Tools Required: - In-depth knowledge of critical care nursing procedures and protocols. - Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and teamwork. - Proficiency in using advanced medical equipment and technology commonly used in ICU settings. - Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. - Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation requirements. - Current nursing license and certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). - Previous experience in an ICU setting is highly desirable. Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree from a recognized institution. - Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a critical care environment. - Additional certifications in critical care nursing (e.g., CCRN) will be an asset.
