Job Description

Role Overview

The HVAC & Mechanical – Proficient in CAD and also knowing Revit Engineer will support the Data Center HVAC Engineering Team in the design and delivery of mission-critical data center projects. The role focuses on CAD drafting, Revit modelling, schematic development, and MEP coordination, working under the guidance of HVAC Design Engineers and Technical Leads.

The position is delivery-oriented and contributes to concept, schematic, and detailed design stages
(RIBA Stage 2 onwards), ensuring coordinated, high-quality HVAC documentation and models

  • This is a design support and BIM delivery role, not a client-facing or lead engineering position.
  • The role focuses on schematics, layouts, modelling, coordination, and documentation under defined design direction.
  • Success is measured by accuracy, coordination quality, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC Design Support, Drafting & BIM

  • Develop HVAC schematics and single-line / line diagrams for data center HVAC systems using AutoCAD.
  • Prepare high-level Bills of Material (BOM) and support quantity take-offs for design development and cost planning.
  • Produce HVAC layouts, including ducting, piping, and equipment layouts in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Create and maintain Revit HVAC models up to LOD 300–400 for data center facilities.
  • Develop coordinated drawings for:
  1.  Chilled Water Systems
  2.  CRAH / AHU and data hall cooling layouts
  3.  Mechanical plant rooms and external plant gantries
  4.  Support spaces such as MMRs, IDFs, battery rooms, and UPS rooms
Qualification
  •  Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

  •  5–10 years of experience in HVAC drafting and BIM modelling.
  •  3–5 years of experience in data center or mission-critical projects preferred.
  •  Proven experience in AutoCAD- HVAC delivery role.
Additional Information

MEP Coordination & Documentation

  • Perform MEP coordination in Revit, identifying and resolving clashes with electrical, structural, architectural, and fire systems.
  •  Support design reviews by incorporating comments from HVAC leads, BIM managers, and project stakeholders.
  •  Ensure HVAC layouts align with data center operational, redundancy, access, and maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain drawing registers, model versions, and document control in line with project standards.

Quality Assurance

  • Deliver drawings and models in compliance with project specifications, BIM execution plans, and internal QA/QC procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and constructability of HVAC documentation.
  • Support revisions during design development and coordination stages.

Mandatory Technical Skills

  •  Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for HVAC drafting and schematic development.
  •  Strong proficiency in Revit (latest versions) for HVAC modelling and MEP coordination.
  •  Working knowledge of data center HVAC systems, including:
  1.  Chilled water and CRAH-based cooling systems
  2.   Plant room layouts and support infrastructure
  •  Understanding of data center redundancy concepts (N, N+1, N+2).
  •  Ability to interpret HVAC design intent, specifications, and engineering inputs.

Desirable / Added Skills

  • Exposure to liquid cooling or high-density data center cooling solutions.
  • Familiarity with Uptime Tier concepts (Tier II / III / IV).
  • Experience supporting CFD studies and translating results into layouts.
  • Experience on hyperscale or colocation data center projects.

Soft Skills

  •  Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing quality.
  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
  •  Willingness to support senior engineers and mentor junior team members.
  •  Flexibility to manage iterative design changes.
  •  Good communication skills (verbal and written) to support coordination with engineers and BIM teams.
  •  Ability to clearly understand, document, and communicate design changes, comments, and coordination issues in drawings, models, and reports.
