Role Overview
The Electrical – CAD and Revit BIM Engineer will support the Electrical Design Engineering Team in the design and delivery of mission-critical Data Center projects. The role focuses on electrical drafting, Revit BIM modelling, schematic development, and multi-disciplinary coordination, working under the guidance of Electrical Design Engineers and Technical Leads.
The position is delivery-oriented and contributes to concept, schematic, and detailed design stages (LOD 100 to LOD400, or RIBA Stage 2 onwards), ensuring coordinated, high-quality electrical drawings, models, and documentation.
Role Clarity
- This is a design support and BIM delivery role, not a client-facing or lead electrical engineering position.
- The role focuses on schematics, layouts, BIM modelling, coordination, and documentation under defined design direction.
- Success is measured by accuracy, coordination quality, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design Support, Drafting & BIM
- Develop electrical schematics and single-line diagrams (SLDs) for data center electrical systems using AutoCAD, including:
- HT / MV / LV distribution systems
- UPS systems and battery rooms
- Generators and emergency power systems
- House power and critical power systems
- Prepare high-level Bills of Material (BOM) and support quantity take-offs to assist cost planning and BOQs.
- Produce electrical layouts in AutoCAD and Revit, including:
- Substations, switch rooms, UPS rooms, and battery rooms
- Busduct and cable routing layouts
- Data hall power distribution layouts
- Earthing and lightning protection layouts
- Create and maintain Revit electrical models up to LOD 300–400 for data center facilities.
Desirable / Added Skills
- Exposure to ETAP or similar electrical analysis software (short circuit, load flow, protection studies).
- Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier concepts and TIA-942 requirements.
- Experience with busduct systems, prefabricated E-Pods, and modular power systems.
- Experience on hyperscale, colocation, or AI / GPU data center projects.
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing and model quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Willingness to support senior engineers and collaborate across teams.
- Flexibility to manage iterative design changes and coordination cycles.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written) to support coordination with engineers and BIM teams.
- Ability to clearly understand, document, and communicate design changes, comments, and coordination issues in drawings, models, and reports.
Qualification
Diploma / BE / BTech in Electrical Engineering
Mandatory Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical drafting and schematic development.
- Strong proficiency in Revit (latest versions) for electrical BIM modelling and coordination.
- Working knowledge of Data Center electrical systems, including:
- HT / MV / LV distribution
- UPS and battery systems
- Generator-backed emergency power systems
- Critical and non-critical power segregation
- Ability to interpret electrical design intent, SLDs, specifications, and engineering calculations.
Additional Information
MEP Coordination & Documentation
- Perform MEP coordination in Revit, resolving clashes with mechanical, architectural, structural, fire, and ELV systems.
- Support design reviews by incorporating comments from Electrical Leads, BIM Managers, and project stakeholders.
- Ensure layouts align with data center redundancy concepts (N, N+1, 2N) and operational requirements.
- Maintain drawing registers, model versions, and document control in line with project BIM and QA standards.
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in electrical drafting and BIM modelling.
- 3–5 years of experience in Data Center or mission-critical projects preferred.
- Proven experience in CAD + Revit delivery roles within MEP or electrical design teams.
Quality Assurance
- Deliver drawings and models in compliance with project specifications, Basis of Design, BIM Execution Plans, and internal QA/QC procedures.
- Ensure accuracy, constructability, and coordination quality of all electrical documentation.
- Support revisions during schematic and detailed design stages.
