Senior Associate

Key Responsibilities

• Drive high-quality compliance: Ensure detailed review, timely and accurate state and local income/franchise, gross receipts, and other tax return filings for entities and individuals.
• Develop and implement SOPs: Standardize processes for recurring returns, notice response, apportionment reviews, and nexus analyses.
• Provide SALT advisory services: Support clients with nexus determinations, apportionment planning, and state-level structuring and planning.
• Stay current on changing laws: Monitor state and local tax legislative and regulatory updates to ensure compliance and proactively advise clients.
• Build a culture of quality and accountability: Implement review standards, maintain audit defensibility, and build in process checkpoints.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 3-5 years of progressive experience in state and local tax compliance and consulting.
• Proven ability to lead and scale a SALT function, ideally in a high-growth or tech-enabled environment.
• Strong technical SALT knowledge across entity-level and individual tax types, including familiarity with venture-backed and investment fund structures.
• Excellent communicator with experience translating tax nuances to cross-functional and non-tax audiences.
• Background in Big 4 or Global 7 firm preferred; experience with fast-paced startups a plus.
• EA, CPA, CA, JD, or MST preferred.
