CST 2017 JD Ver 2.0 Job Description **mandatory SNRequired InformationDetails 1Role**Seating CAD Engineer2Required Technical Skill Set**CATIA V5/V63No of Requirements**54Desired Experience Range**5-8 Yrs5Location of Requirement Offshore Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)Must-Have** (Ideally should not be more than 3-5) • Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 and PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia). • Strong understanding of seating systems, ergonomics, and occupant packaging. • Experience in GD&T, drawing standards, and engineering release processes. • Attention to detail and ability to manage complex assemblies. • A degree or Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Automobile, or Product design, is typically required Good-to-Have • Experience with premium seating systems (e.g., massage, ventilation, memory). • Familiarity with safety standards (FMVSS, UN-ECE) and ISOFIX packaging. • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes for seating components. • Ability to work across global teams and manage multiple programs Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role • Create and manage 3D CAD models of seating components and assemblies using CATIA V5/V6. • Develop parametric models for seat frames, foams, trims, mechanisms, and comfort features. • Ensure models meet packaging, ergonomic, and manufacturing constraints. • Conduct clash detection and interface checks with adjacent systems (e.g., floorpan, IP, doors). • Support digital mock-up (DMU) reviews and virtual build events. • Optimize seat layout for occupant comfort, visibility, and safety compliance. • Collaborate with seating engineers to translate functional requirements into robust CAD solutions. • Support engineering release processes and maintain model maturity through gateways. • Assist in preparing drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation for supplier communication. • Interface with Studio Design, Vehicle Architecture, and Manufacturing teams. • Participate in design reviews and provide CAD feasibility input. • Work with suppliers to validate CAD data and support tooling development.
