Job Description

Job title

  • Lead testing and quality assurance for the S/4 Hana Business Transformation programme.
  • Establish a robust testing process to support Risk Management in making informed decisions on technical solution sign-off.
  • Build a dedicated Testing Organisation to deliver and support all testing functions using a satellite model for the Global Transformation Programme.

Role Overview:

  • Design the end-to-end test approach for programmes.
  • Provide oversight across all testing phases: Unit, Functional Acceptance, System Integration, Regression, User Acceptance, Operational Acceptance, Pre-Production, Performance and Volume testing.

Resource & Stakeholder Management:

  • Plan, recruit and manage test resources at both programme and project levels, including permanent and flexible teams.
  • Collaborate with programme management and third-party suppliers to agree on testing strategy, resourcing, budget and technical requirements.

Technical Collaboration & Risk Assurance:

  • Liaise with Solution Architects, Technical Architects and leads to ensure comprehensive test coverage across client and supplier-led testing.
  • Identify and incorporate high-risk areas into the test plan to assure solution integrity.

Supplier Engagement & Best Practices:

  • Ensure suppliers follow best practices in test planning and execution.
  • Enforce adherence to the Client Test Strategy and manage handovers between supplier and client teams.
  • Lead resolution of test-related issues across parties.

Tools & Technology:

  • Select and implement appropriate testing tools for each platform and project, including automation and test management solutions.

Quality Assurance & Agile Enablement:

  • Act as the single point of contact for solution quality at any stage of delivery.
  • Promote Agile methodologies for Flexibility, Quick Scale-up, Risk Management in Global Stakeholder community


Reports to Orchestration Lead/Programme LeadAccountabilities

  • Lead the planning, budgeting and recruitment of test resources for the programme.
  • Manage complex, large-scale testing requirements across both Waterfall and Agile delivery models.
  • Provide technical assurance for programme solutions valued up to 50 million.
  • Oversee the Programme Test Team, comprising 015 internal and external resources.
  • Ensure effective coordination and execution of testing activities across all projects within the programme.
  • Maintain responsibility for both permanent and flexible testing resources.

Scale of Impact:

  • Operates across team, functional, divisional and group-wide levels.
  • Drives quality assurance and testing excellence throughout the programme lifecycle.

Key Skills,

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven SAP/S4HANA testing experience
  • Strong knowledge of the full testing lifecycle, including System Integration Testing, Regression Testing and User Acceptance Testing
  • Experience in programme-level test planning, management and execution
  • Skilled in test resource management, including budgeting and recruitment
  • Proven ability to manage third-party suppliers and evaluate resources
  • Oversight of supplier-led testing to ensure quality and compliance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve test planning and execution issues
  • Technical competence with Azure, web servers/services, middleware technologies, APIs and database platforms
  • Solid understanding of Agile and Waterfall project management, including planning, estimating, risk management, reporting, resource coordination and financial oversight
  • Commercial awareness and vendor engagement experience
  • Proficient in collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with SAP on RISE platform
  • Awareness of SAP WRICEF methodology
  • Agile training or qualifications, including Scrum and Kanban

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in test management for large integration projects
  • At least 10 years of overall testing experience
  • Programme-level leadership in quality assurance across hybrid delivery environments
  • Resource and budget planning for test teams within programmes up to £50 million
  • Experience working within matrix management structures, balancing programme demands with alignment to overall test strategy
  • Hands-on experience with industry-recognized automated testing tools, especially for unit, functional, regression and accessibility testing

Qualifications

  • Technology-based higher education (degree or equivalent)
  • Formal testing certifications (e.g., ISEB)
  • Certified Agile Tester (e.g., CAT) preferred
