Sales Manager - Water Movement Technologies (India)
Location: Bangalore, India
Reports To: Managing Director / Business Head
Department: Sales & Business Development
Role Purpose
We are embarking on an exciting journey as the exclusive distributor in India for a 50-year-old global brand in water movement technologies (DAB Pumps and related solutions). The Sales Manager - Water Movement Technologies will play a foundational role in setting up and leading our India operations. This is a self-starter leadership role for an experienced professional who can establish sales channels, build regional presence, and drive business growth from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Market Establishment & Strategy
Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy for DAB Pumps and related water movement solutions across India.
Conduct market mapping to identify key demand segments (residential, commercial, industrial, irrigation, and municipal).
Build pricing, channel, and distribution strategies suited to India s diverse market needs.
Represent the brand in India with a long-term vision for sustainable growth.
Sales & Business Development
Identify and onboard dealers, distributors, and channel partners across key regions.
Drive sales and business development activities to achieve revenue and volume targets.
Engage with consultants, MEP contractors, OEMs, and government clients to introduce DAB solutions.
Lead B2B and institutional sales efforts through project tenders and long-term partnerships.
Negotiate commercial terms, agreements, and partnerships aligned with business goals.
Operations Setup
Establish sales processes, reporting systems, and operational structures for India operations.
Collaborate with leadership to set up logistics, warehousing, and after-sales support framework.
Build a high-performance sales team across key zones as the business scales.
Ensure alignment with brand quality, service, and customer experience standards.
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, and mentor regional sales engineers and support staff.
Drive performance culture with clear KPIs, review systems, and territory goals.
Foster a collaborative, growth-oriented work environment aligned with company values.
Market Intelligence & Brand Growth
Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and emerging opportunities.
Collaborate with marketing teams for brand activation and digital presence.
Represent the company at key industry forums, trade shows, and partner events.
Key Skills & Competencies
Proven ability to build and scale a new business or region independently.
Strong understanding of water movement technologies, pumps, or fluid management systems.
Extensive network with dealers, distributors, OEMs, and consultants in the industry.
Entrepreneurial mindset with high ownership and accountability.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Strategic thinking with hands-on execution capability.
Willingness to travel extensively across India.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or equivalent; MBA preferred.
10-12 years of total experience in sales & business development in pumps or related engineering products.
Minimum 5 years in a managerial role handling regional or zonal operations.
Experience with global brands such as DAB, Grundfos, Wilo, Kirloskar, KSB, or CRI preferred.
Prior exposure to business setup or distributorship expansion is highly valued.
Long-term career growth within a high-potential, expanding vertical.
