Role Overview:
The Sales Engineer at Hevo acts as a trusted technical advisor and primary resource throughout the sales journey, focused on accelerating new deal closure . Your core responsibility is to rapidly develop a comprehensive understanding of a prospects current data infrastructure, identify critical challenges, and strategically present and demonstrate how Hevos platform functions as a powerful, efficient, and scalable solution to achieve their specific business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Discovery & Solutioning: Conduct deep-dive technical discovery calls with prospects to understand their current data architecture, business requirements, and specific data integration challenges (e.g., source systems, target data warehouses, volume, latency needs).
- Product Demonstration & Presentation: Deliver compelling, tailored, and high-impact product demonstrations and presentations that clearly articulate the value proposition and technical superiority of the Hevo platform.
- Proof of Concept (PoC) & Evaluation: Design, manage, and execute technical Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and trials to ensure the Hevo platform meets all technical and business validation requirements. Document success criteria and manage the technical win.
- RFI/RFP Response: Partner with the sales team to complete technical sections of RFIs (Request for Information) and RFPs (Request for Proposal).
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as the voice of the customer to Product Management and Engineering teams, relaying market feedback and new technical requirements. Collaborate with Customer Success to ensure a smooth transition post-sale.
- Content & Knowledge: Develop and maintain technical sales assets, including demo scripts, technical whitepapers, and best-practice guides for data integration patterns.
- Sales Strategy: Assist Account Executives in developing a technical sales strategy for key accounts to accelerate the sales cycle and increase win rates.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Degree: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in a Sales Engineering, Solution Architect, or similar pre-sales technical role for a SaaS product, preferably in the Data Integration, ETL/ELT, Analytics, or Business Intelligence space.
- Data Warehouse Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of modern cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift) and data lakes.
- Databases & APIs: Deep understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and experience working with REST/SOAP APIs and various data sources (e.g., application APIs, streaming data).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to quickly analyze complex technical environments and propose creative, effective, and technically sound solutions.
- Shift Flexibility: Comfortable working US hours from Office (typically 6 PM - 3 AM IST).
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points):
- Experience with other ETL/ELT tools or iPaaS platforms.
- Familiarity with the Hevo platform or a similar no-code/low-code integration platform.
- Experience with scripting or programming (e.g., Python, SQL) for advanced demos or PoCs.
