Job Description

The Safety Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant working environment at construction sites by implementing safety policies, monitoring daily activities, conducting inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture in line with statutory and organizational standards.

Strategy Planning and implementation

  • Develop EHS strategy in close coordination with Projects Head ensuring compliance with legal, customer, and organizational guidelines.
  • Ensure organization-wide implementation and compliance towards the EHS policy.
  • Periodically review, revise, and update the EHS policy and comply with statutory norms.
  • Ensure best practice EHS systems are in place.
  • Ensure timely renewal of OHSAS and ISO certifications.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation

  • Conduct periodical site risk assessments to identify risks and hazards and work to address and mitigate the risks identified.
  • Participate in EHS core team meetings to identify workplace hazards and establish control measures.
  • Implement mitigation strategies of identified risks in alignment with the Project Head.

Training and Guidance

  • Guide and train site personnel on EHS practices and safety protocols.
  • Conduct a timely safety induction and training for site engineers, workers, machine operators, staff in-charge, and labor
  • Provide recommendations and inputs for revising safety procedures, work processes, and other quality improvement measures.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Ensure timely updating of the EHS relevant data in the system and upkeep the EHS resources.
  • Provide regular EHS updates and report to the Projects Head and CPO
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and compliance with EHS requirements.

Incident Management

  • Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions to the Project Manager.
  • Conduct EHS assessments, identify unsafe acts, conditions, near misses, and ensure prompt corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work with the site team for implementation of critical Safety systems and carry out periodic audits to ensure effectiveness of the system and conduct any accident investigation when applicable.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify & implement continuous improvement & innovation processes that benefit the workers and staff
  • Drive a zero-incident culture on site.
  • Support Project Managers in achieving all EHS objectives.
  • Ensure the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the availability of safety equipment on project sites.

Liaison and Compliance

  • Liaise with local regulatory bodies and government standard agencies for all EHS compliance activities.
  • Ensure adherence to the core organizational values through all verticals across all project locations.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelors in Engineering Mechanical/Civil (Mandatory)
  • NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA / IRCA / IEMA (EMS) certifications will be given an added advantage
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in managing EHS at site level.
