Job Description

Safety Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the maintenance department's specific needs and operations.  Ensure alignment with relevant safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and company policies.  Establish clear safety guidelines for various maintenance tasks, including equipment operation, handling of hazardous materials, and working at heights.  2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Control: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with maintenance activities, equipment, and facilities.  Evaluate the severity and probability of identified hazards and recommend appropriate control measures to mitigate risks.  Implement and monitor the effectiveness of control measures, such as engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).  3. Safety Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs to educate maintenance personnel on safe work practices, hazard identification, and emergency procedures. Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety meetings to reinforce safety awareness and promote a positive safety culture. Ensure that all maintenance personnel are adequately trained on the proper use of PPE and safety equipment.  4. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and hazardous situations to determine the root cause of incidents. Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain accurate records of all incidents, investigations, and corrective actions.  5. Compliance and Enforcement: Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and company safety policies. Monitor the use of PPE and enforce safety rules and regulations. Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify and address safety violations.  6. Equipment and Facility Safety: Ensure that all equipment used in the maintenance department is properly maintained, inspected, and safe for use.  Oversee the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.  Ensure that the maintenance facilities are maintained in a safe and orderly manner.  7. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate safety information, updates, and best practices to all maintenance personnel. Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and operations, to address safety concerns and implement safety solutions. Provide safety-related advice and guidance to management and employees.  8. Staying Updated: Stay up-to-date on relevant safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Continuously seek opportunities to improve safety performance and promote a culture of safety within the maintenance department.
