Safety Officer

Role & responsibilities

1. Project-Specific Safety Management

• Implement HSE standards compliant with steel plant, thermal power plant, and transmission project requirements.
• Ensure strict control on safety during erection of Boilers, Turbines, ESP, Stack, CHP/AHP, conveyors, and heavy structural works.
  

2. High-Risk Activity Supervision

• Monitor critical activities such as:
  
• Working at height above 10100 meters (Boiler & TG area).
• Heavy lifting with crawler/tower cranes.
• Structural erection in Boiler, ESP, and Coal Handling Areas.
• Pressure testing, hydro testing, and pre-commissioning jobs.
• Hot work in high-risk zones of steel melting shop, rolling mill, and power block.
  

3. Energy Isolation & LOTO

• Implement LockoutTagout (LOTO) procedures for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ensure safe isolation during maintenance and commissioning activities.
  

4. Permit-to-Work & Compliance

• Strictly monitor PTW compliance in power plant activities: Hot Work, Height Work, Electrical Isolation, Confined Space, and Excavation permits.
• Ensure all subcontractors meet project safety requirements.
  

5. Safety Audits & Inspections

• Conduct internal HSE audits, scaffold inspections, lifting gear inspections, fire safety audits, and electrical safety inspections.
• Prepare reports and track closure of deviations.
  

6. Fire & Process Safety

• Ensure fire safety compliance in Boiler, Turbine, Furnace, and Fuel Handling Areas.
• Monitor gas cutting, welding, slag handling, and molten metal movement in steel plant zones.
• Verify functioning of fire hydrant system, extinguishers, and alarms.
  

7. Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with Project Manager, EPC contractors, and client HSE team.
• Submit daily/weekly/monthly safety reports including incident statistics and compliance status.
  

8. Environment & Health Compliance

• Monitor noise, dust, fumes, and heat exposure in steel plant operations.
• Ensure adequate ventilation, illumination, and safe housekeeping standards.
