Job Description – Safety Officer

Role Overview

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring safe working conditions at the project site by implementing safety policies, conducting safety training, monitoring compliance, and preventing accidents. The role ensures that all workers follow safety standards to maintain a hazard-free workplace.

Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Safety Compliance & Monitoring

• Enforce site safety rules and ensure all workers follow safety protocols.
• Conduct regular inspections of the site for hazards and unsafe practices.
• Ensure use of PPE (Helmet, Safety Shoes, Gloves, etc.) by all workers.
• Monitor hot work, working at height, electrical safety, and scaffolding safety.

2. Risk Assessment

• Identify potential risks and implement preventive measures.
• Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Hazard Identification (HIRA).
• Ensure all permits (Hot Work, Height Work, Excavation) are followed properly.

3. Safety Training

• Conduct toolbox talks daily/weekly.
• Train workers on emergency procedures, first-aid basics, and safe work practices.
• Create awareness on safety policies, fire safety, and equipment handling.

4. Incident Management

• Record and investigate accidents, near-miss cases, and unsafe conditions.
• Prepare safety reports and documents for management review.
• Ensure corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain safety records, inspection checklists, and training attendance sheets.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly safety reports.
• Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations.

6. Coordination

• Coordinate with Site Engineers, Project Managers, and Contractors.
• Ensure subcontractors follow safety guidelines.
• Liaise with external agencies/authorities when needed.

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of construction safety standards.
• Good communication and training skills.
• Ability to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
• Knowledge of first aid, emergency handling, and fire safety equipment.
• Familiarity with safety documentation and statutory requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in any Engineering discipline.
• Additional safety certification:
• NEBOSH / IOSH / Diploma in Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety Certificate.

Salary Range

• Based on experience and industry standards.
