Job Summary:
The Fire Safety Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring all fire safety measures within the medical college and hospital premises. This role ensures compliance with fire safety regulations, conducts risk assessments, organizes training, and oversees the functioning of firefighting equipment to safeguard patients, staff, students, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Fire Safety Management**
* Develop, implement, and monitor fire safety policies and procedures.
* Conduct regular fire risk assessments across hospital wards, laboratories, hostels, lecture halls, and other areas.
* Ensure compliance with the National Building Code of India, Fire Safety Act, and other statutory requirements.
2. **Equipment & Infrastructure**
* Inspect, maintain, and ensure proper functioning of fire alarms, extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, smoke detectors, and emergency exits.
* Coordinate with engineering/maintenance teams for rectification of fire safety hazards.
3. **Training & Awareness**
* Conduct fire safety training, mock drills, and evacuation exercises for students, faculty, and staff.
* Create awareness programs on fire prevention and emergency response.
4. **Emergency Preparedness**
* Develop and update fire emergency evacuation plans.
* Act as the Incident Commander during fire emergencies until the arrival of external fire services.
* Coordinate with local fire departments and disaster management authorities.
5. **Documentation & Reporting**
* Maintain records of fire drills, fire equipment inspections, and statutory compliance.
* Investigate fire incidents and prepare incident reports with preventive recommendations.

Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Fire & Safety / Fire Engineering.
* Certification in Fire Safety or Disaster Management (preferred).
* Minimum 0–2 years of relevant experience in hospital, healthcare, or institutional setups.
* Knowledge of NABH/JCI fire safety standards (preferred for medical colleges/hospitals).
