Restaurant Captain

Job Title: Restaurant Captain Department: Food & Beverage Reports to: Restaurant Manager / F&B Manager Job Summary: The Restaurant Captain oversees the dining room staff to ensure smooth service and an exceptional guest experience. They supervise waitstaff, manage table assignments, ensure high standards of customer service, and coordinate between the kitchen and service areas. Key Responsibilities: Greet and seat guests in a courteous and professional manner. Supervise and coordinate activities of waitstaff and bus staff. Ensure prompt, courteous, and efficient service to guests. Assign tables and manage reservations to optimize seating capacity. Maintain a strong floor presence during peak hours. Handle guest complaints and resolve issues professionally. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff for timely food delivery. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dining area. Train and mentor new service staff. Monitor and enforce hygiene, grooming, and service standards. Assist with inventory checks and ordering of dining room supplies when necessary. Suggest and upsell food and beverage items to guests. Report to and assist the Restaurant Manager with daily operations. Qualifications: Proven experience as a captain, head waiter, or similar role in a restaurant or hotel. Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Customer-focused with a problem-solving attitude. Ability to multitask and work under pressure. High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or diploma in Hospitality is a plus.
