Job summary

• The R&D Executive for Industrial Coatings is responsible for the research, development, and enhancement of industrial paint formulations. This role involves improving product performance, developing new products, and ensuring all formulations comply with industry standards and safety regulations. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in polymer and coatings chemistry and is proficient in laboratory testing and product formulation.

Key responsibilities

1. Product Development & Formulation

• Formulate and develop new industrial paint products, including specialized coatings to meet customer performance requirements consistently.

• Evaluate and qualify new raw materials, such as resins, pigments, and additives, for use in new and existing products.

• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and formulation recipes for new products.

2. Testing and Quality Assurance

• Conduct comprehensive laboratory tests on new and existing products to evaluate performance, durability, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, BIS).

• Assist the quality assurance department in developing and implementing quality control procedures to ensure consistent product quality.

• Operate and calibrate specialized laboratory equipment, such as spectrophotometers and viscometers.

3. Technical Support and Troubleshooting

• Provide technical support to the production team during the manufacturing of new products and troubleshoot any process-related issues.

• Investigate and provide root-cause analysis for customer complaints and product non-conformance issues.

• Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to provide technical advice, conduct product trials, and handle customer inquiries.

4. Safety and Compliance

• Ensure all laboratory and formulation activities adhere to safety regulations and company policies.

• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

• Comply with all regulatory policies, such as environmental and hazardous material management guidelines.

Qualifications Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, or a related field. Experience

• 5 years of experience in an R&D or formulation role within the paint or coatings industry, with a focus on industrial coatings.

Skills and Abilities

• Proven experience in paint formulation, with strong knowledge of polymer chemistry and coatings technology.

• Proficiency in laboratory batches and testing techniques.

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
