Research And Development Manager

Required Expertise:

• Proven track record in designing and deploying Industrial Networking & Communication Products.
• Hands-on experience in:
• Embedded systems (ARM/STM32, TI, NXP platforms)
• Real-time OS (FreeRTOS, Linux)
• Industrial communication protocols (Modbus, PROFIBUS, BACnet, IEC61850, SNMP, MQTT)

Role Overview

The Head of R&D will lead and manage the full spectrum of new product development, technology strategy, and innovation roadmap. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership acumen, and industry understanding to drive the evolution of San Telequips portfolio of embedded and industrial networking solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Innovation & Development
• Lead end-to-end design, development, and testing of networking products like Industrial Ethernet Switches, Protocol Converters, IIoT and BMS Gateways, and related systems.
• Define architecture for embedded systems using ARM/STM32/Linux/FreeRTOS platforms.
• Ensure compliance with industrial standards such as IEC61850, Modbus, BACnet, DNP3, SNMP, and other relevant protocols.
• Team Leadership
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance R&D team including hardware, firmware, software, and testing engineers.
• Foster a collaborative innovation culture to rapidly prototype and scale new solutions.
• Technology Strategy
• Own the product and technology roadmap aligned with market trends, customer needs, and industry standards.
• Drive adoption of latest tech stacks in embedded systems, cybersecurity, remote device management (OTA), and edge intelligence.
• Project & Process Management
• Implement structured product development processes (Agile, Stage-Gate, etc.).
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality, production-ready designs with detailed documentation.
• Drive cost optimization, manufacturability, and reliability in design.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with sales, marketing, and customer support to convert application requirements into technical specifications.
• Coordinate with suppliers, EMS partners, and certification agencies.
• IP & Standards
• Promote filing of patents and IPR development for strategic technologies.
• Ensure adherence to industrial certifications (CE, UL, IEC, EMI/EMC, etc.)
• Hardware Design (analog/digital, EMI/EMC, PCB layout review)
• Software stacks for IoT and Edge devices

Tool Knowledge:

• Project Management, Bug tracking, Version Control tools like Jira, SVN etc.
• Use of Co-pilot and others to prepare FRS, Test Plan, Certification Roadmap.
• Circuit Design and Simulation Tools.
• PCB Design Tools with the basic knowledge of hi-speed design, thermal management.
• Using Test Equipment like Network Analyser.
• Development of Test Jigs.
