Role Overview

  • The Release Manager for IT Operations is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the deployment of changes and releases across IT systems and services.
  • This role ensures that releases are delivered smoothly, with minimal disruption to business operations, and in alignment with ITIL and organizational standards.
  • Experience with ServiceNow is essential for managing workflows, change records, and release calendars.

Role & responsibilities

  • Define and manage release schedules across multiple environments.
  • Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and support teams to ensure readiness.
  • Lead release deployment activities, including pre-release checks and post-release validation.
  • Utilize ServiceNow for managing change requests, release records, and deployment tasks.
  • Maintain release calendar and dashboards in ServiceNow.
  • Ensure compliance with change management policies and workflows.
  • Conduct release readiness reviews and go/no-go meetings.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with releases.
  • Ensure rollback plans and contingency measures are in place.
  • Act as the central point of contact for release-related communications.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on release status and issues.
  • Document release notes and coordinate with service desk for user communication.
  • Analyze release performance and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and automation teams to streamline release cycles.
  • Contribute to the development of release policies and best practices.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Strong experience in IT operations and release management.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Change and Release Management modules.
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and change governance.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with enterprise environments and multi-team collaboration.
  • ITIL Foundation or Intermediate
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator or Implementation Specialist
  • PMP or Agile certifications (optional)
