Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Evaluate and underwrite commercial property and engineering risks in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
Analyze technical risk features (fire, burglary, engineering breakdown, BI/ICOW, CAT exposure) and site-specific risk improvement measures.
Price risks using approved rating tools; recommend facultative reinsurance where appropriate.
Structure terms, conditions, warranties, and deductibles to balance competitiveness and profitability.
Manage and monitor the regional portfolio, identify loss trends, and implement corrective actions for adverse segments.
Partner with distribution (brokers, corporate agents, bancassurance) to support growth while maintaining underwriting discipline.
Conduct risk/site surveys and collaborate with risk engineering for high-value or complex placements.
Ensure documentation quality, adherence to IRDAI regulations, internal audits, and treaty requirements.
Provide technical guidance and training to sales teams and junior underwriters; contribute to governance forums.
Maintain strong marketplace intelligence on rates, capacities, and competitor activity in the North region.
