R&D - Technical Lead - Controlgear

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

• The Control Gear Head will spearhead ideation, design, and development of Controlgear products (Contactors, Relays, and auxiliaries), ensuring designs align with manufacturability standards and leverage modern manufacturing technologies for both new and existing portfolios.
• Drive cost-optimized design and visually appealing product aesthetics across existing and upcoming ranges, with the goal of benchmarking and achieving parity with leading global controlgear brands.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Design, Development of New product ranges in CG domain (Contactor, Relay)
2. Collaborating with Industrial Designer for Impressive Product Aesthetics Design, Development and Industrialization activities
3. Technology, Product range and Market idea to derive working Roadmap with Product Management team
4. Drive Cost optimization programs across ranges to provide cost competitive products
5. Build, nurture and manage Design and Development team
6. Ensure proper knowledge management and protect BCH Intellectual Property
7. Timely product development

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• BE/B Tech – in Electrical Stream from Reputed Institutions, 15–20 years of full-cycle experience in Controlgear product development, covering ideation, design, validation, and commercialization.

• Proven hands-on ownership of at least one complete product range (Contactor and Relay) taken from concept to production.

• Demonstrated exposure to working with global/technology partners for indigenizing Controlgear technologies and platforms.

• Strong track record in driving and executing cost-optimization initiatives across product lines.

• Deep understanding of Controlgear standards, type testing, regulatory requirements, and validation protocols.

• Experience in industrial design (CMF) for Controlgear products, including aesthetics, ergonomics, and user-centric design.

• Innovative design thinker with the ability to integrate existing and emerging technologies into new product architectures.

• Familiarity with OEM requirements—especially RDSO—and experience in developing products to meet these specifications.

• Strong collaborative mindset with the ability to build effective cross-functional and stakeholder relationships.
