Role & responsibilities

Strategic & Technical Leadership

• Define and implement the overall quality strategy for LV and MV switchgear products, including AIS, GIS, and VCB technologies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable international and national standards such as IEC 62271, IEC 60947, IS standards, and ISO 9001.
• Set quality goals and drive a culture of continuous improvement through Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen practices.

Product & Process Quality

• Oversee the quality control and assurance of all products:

• AIS (Air Insulated Switchgear) panel fabrication, insulation testing, dielectric testing.
• VCB (Vacuum Circuit Breakers) – assembly accuracy, vacuum integrity, contact resistance.
• In Process & Pre dispatch inspection.

• Design and implement testing protocols for type testing, routine testing, and factory acceptance tests (FAT).

• Ensure robust documentation and traceability for every stage of production.

Quality Systems & Audits

• Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
• Lead internal and external audits (third-party, customer, and certifying agencies).
• Develop quality manuals, work instructions, process flowcharts, and control plans.

Supplier & Incoming Quality Management

• Establish supplier qualification processes and conduct technical audits of vendors for components such as SF breakers, relays, CT/PTs, and enclosures.
• Manage non-conformities and ensure CAPA processes are in place for supplier issues.
• Collaborate with SCM and R&D to ensure supplier capability meets quality and reliability expectations.

Customer Complaint Resolution & Field Quality

• Investigate field failures and customer complaints using 8D, Root Cause Analysis, and implement preventive measures.
• Support field service teams with quality feedback, warranty claim analysis, and technical documentation.
• Ensure smooth and successful customer inspection of product by continuous monitoring of quality process.
• Track & ensure healthy practices of RST by customers.
• Support field service teams with quality feedback, customer complaint analysis and technical documentation.
• Ensure timely closure of NCRs and implementation of lessons learned.

Leadership & Team Management

• Build and mentor a high-performing QA/QC team across design validation, in-process inspection, and final testing.
• Drive employee engagement in quality initiatives; foster a zero-defect mindset across the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Quality certifications (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lead Auditor ISO 9001) highly desirable.

Experience Requirements

• 15–20 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior quality leadership role in switchgear manufacturing.
• Hands-on knowledge and QA/QC experience with:
• AIS (Air Insulated Switchgear)
• VCB (Vacuum Circuit Breakers)
• GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear)
• Experience in managing testing as per IEC 62271, IEC 60947, IEC 61439, IS 3427, IS 9920, and relevant grid codes.
• Exposure to both domestic and international customer expectations and certification bodies.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in quality tools: 8D, FMEA, PPAP, MSA, SPC, CAPA, Ishikawa, Pareto.
• Strong technical knowledge of switchgear manufacturing, testing procedures, insulation coordination, and safety.
• Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making ability.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• ERP and QMS software proficiency (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Quality Core, etc.).
