Quality Head

Role Objective:

To manage and lead the quality control and assurance Department for Bitumen Emulsion, Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB),CRMB , Micro Surfacing Emulsion and other specialty binders. Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations while supporting plant operations, marketing, and product application.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quality Control & Testing

• Supervise daily QC operations, ensuring all products meet IS, ASTM, and project-specific standards.
• Conduct and validate testing procedures for Emulsions, PMB, CRMB, and associated raw materials.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment as per QMS protocols.

• Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Develop and maintain SOPs, quality documentation, and test records for internal and external audits.
• Ensure full compliance with BIS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and relevant environmental and safety standards.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies for license renewals, product certifications, and audit preparedness.

• Support to Production, Marketing & Application Teams

• Provide technical support to production teams in troubleshooting quality issues.
• Collaborate with the marketing team for product presentations, customer queries, and site visits.
• Support field application teams during product trials, application demonstrations, and complaint resolutions.

• Sample Evaluation & Source Approvals

• Evaluate new raw material samples (bitumen, polymers, emulsifiers, additives) and validate sources.
• Prepare technical reports for vendor/source approval based on lab and field performance.

• Continuous Improvement & Reporting

• Drive process improvements using Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, and QMS tools.
• Train lab technicians and QC staff on new methods and equipment.
• Submit daily/weekly/monthly quality reports to management.

Key Requirements:

Education: B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry.

Experience: 5+ in quality control/assurance in bitumen-based or road construction materials.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in bitumen and emulsion testing
• Working knowledge of QMS, documentation, and compliance audits.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and documentation skills.
• Excellent coordination with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to lead and develop lab staff effectively.

Desirable:

• Experience with NHAI-approved products and certification processes.
• Exposure to ERP systems, lab recordkeeping.
